Setting Up Structural Parts for Analytical Modeling

By default, Structural steel and concrete Part/Family definitions are enabled to include Analytical data. If the Analytical option is not active and you want to activate it, it can be modified in Family/Part Editor . Select the Family (steel, timber, concrete, etc.), then select the Part (beam, girder, etc.). Select the Definition view, then right-click the part to change the settings.

On the Definitions tab, at the top, be sure that the Include analytical information option is on. Once on, you can create analytical members at the same time you create physical members.

Note: The Include analytical information check box is disabled if the (Analytical Features) toggle is off.

You can set up these defaults to use in for analytical modeling. Once set, they are reflected in the placement settings (for steel beams, concrete beams, and so forth).
